| Comments | Mamiya Oki is well known for her yaoi (boy/boy love) illustrations, and many of them have been included in this book. Images from Arty Square, All or Nothing & Vartrag Tale as well as many others can be found in this book; including a few from Record of Delfinian War, which is surprising considering there is another artbook totally dedicated to this story.
Oki’s artwork is just GORGEOUS. The first section of the book is entitled ‘Modern Side’ and here you will find images of all her stories based in the present world; predominantly long haired, beautiful bishounen in various stages of dress, poses & moods. The section following is called ‘The Fantasy of Swords and Charm Eastern & Western.’ Appropriately named, here you’ll find fantasy based images that prove that Oki can get past the whole “bishy yaoi boy” stigma, and draw some really amazing stuff; from warrior women & men to princesses, knights and demons. Heck, her females are just as beautiful as her males! In a way I wish she would draw more females, they are that lovely ~_~
The title of this book is rather apt, this book is an excellent selection of Oki’s artwork, and together with The Record of Delfinian War artbook, you have a well rounded collection of Mamiya Oki artwork. I’d be hesitant of the price, but looking at the actual artwork, I think I’ll let it slide this time! |
