Comments Housed in a durable, thick card board slipcase, these two books collect together nothing but artwork from Hiroyuki Utatane’s ‘Seraphic Feather’ manga (printed in English by DarkHorse.) Book 1 entitled [ColorSIDE] contains colour illustrations done for the series. Page after page of full length colour images that dazzle the eye, with a section dedicated to each of the main characters. To my delight, the largest section is on Attim M.Zak (with several images of her also appearing in other character sections.) The only really dissapointing thing about this book is that images are displayed on one page, and the opposite page is nothing but a short description of where the image is from. This means you don’t get that many images.

Book 2 entitled [MonochromeSIDE] collects together black & white illustrations, rough sketches & line work from the series. In my personal opinion, this really does show off Utatane’s artstyle. It gives you a good appreciation for his technique and quite frankly, I prefer this to his colour work! All the female characters from the series are here (few of the male) and dressed in various costumes such as nurses, nuns, bunny girls & cheerleaders. Attim M.Zak & Farn Iris dominate here, with many images of the two in various poses, dress & moods.

Unlike Utatane’s older works, Seraphic Feather is pretty tame (I read somewhere that he is trying to deviate away from the “dodgy” theme.) This doesn’t mean there aren’t any suggestive poses and skin shots! Far from it, and I’m glad. His girls are too beautiful!
Definitely a book to get, just be sure you don’t mind a few frontal shots, and lots of curves! ;)
