Have to agreee with the downward spiral comments.

*sigh* It seems like the amount of people getting into anime is increasing, while the scene itself has decreased. Armageddon is practically the only time that large groups of fans get together ... and there's what, the AMV and cosplay contests, and if we're lucky, a couple of screenings (don't even get me started on what was going on in the 'animation room' .... and the one thing I wanted to see was only on once and I couldn't make it)?

There's not even that much to buy anymore. Madman and GNC were the only majority anime stores ... and they didn't have a huge amount. The purchase I squeed the most over isn't anime and wasn't even brought at the convention.

Have to agree with the gaming stuff to. All promos, and all the same stuff. Couls we please replace WOW with something NEW plz?

I'm not bitter, not at all. HAHA. Damn kids these days don't know what they missed out on.

Yes, as you know I'm a big time gamer but the gaming floor in recent years has just been a waste of time since it's usually promoting things that have been out for months overseas. For those like me with a more global view of the gaming scene there's nothing of interest.

Hey Mirumu :)
You'd be spot on in your impressions, and I am glad I'm not the only one thats noticed the decline. Many people have mentioned how the gaming floor has stopped being more about introducing new games, consoles etc, but has become more about SELLING stuff at the same prices they sell for in stores retail. The stores that attend are just blah, not really interesting and/or again selling stuff at prices they'd sell for in their own stores.

I am really sad you couldn't make it that weekend hun, your company would have rocked!

From the impressions I've seen it kind of seems that Armageddon is in some kind of downward spiral. People don't buy because the stores bring nothing they want and the stores think people aren't willing to spend so don't bring new stock. There's exceptions of course (GNC and Madman come to mind) but in figures especially it's rare to see any really good ones show up at Armageddon.

Armageddon itself has always been more of a side aspect of the weekend in recent years for me. My biggest regret was not making it to the dinner at Jervois. Glad a good time was had by all though. :)
