I am sitting here cursing fate for killing my camera, and cursing myself for my own lamentable lack of being able to make a decision on which digital SLR camera I should buy.
Why? Well was about to go and create photo albums of my anime & manga collection, only to realise that most of the photos are superbly out of date… and I have no camera to take new photos
Oh well, I shall leave you with this slightly older image of my camera and go research (to death) the Canon EOS 50D, and somehow convince myself it’s ok to buy that instead of the much better Nikon D300 or Nikon D90. ~_~
Dayam that is an impressive amount of manga/anime stuff!
@Cytrix
Just wait until I update! A lot of what is shown in those photos has long since been sold (during my downsizing phase) and theres new stuff up there, different wall scrolls on display etc. Still have stuff I need to sell, but eventually I’ll have a collection that is personal and special to me. You should come over woman!
It’s a good thing that the iPhone doesn’t have a camera so you won’t be tempted by two things at once. Oh wait, it does.
Me, I’m tempted to buy this for $2.99 from the App store: http://debaclesoftware.com/
I am compelled to follow that up by saying that the iPhone won’t always get as stunning photos as a good camera. But I carry my phone everywhere, and I don’t carry a camera except on rare occasions. So having the iPhone yields me some good and occasionally great photos at a moment’s notice.
Heh unfortunately the iPhone still has a long way to go before it can beat even a low end dSLR, and since I want to get into photography in a serious way, I won’t be looking into anything less for a camera.
Let me also tell you a story. Last week I thought my phone had died. It would ring but no sound would come through no matter what settings I chose. I went and bought a new phone simply because I needed to not miss calls due to the job thing. Got home and for some reason decided to turn my old phone off then on again, bingo, it started working.
And doh! cause I had this new one. I could have just said “Oh well, new phone is cooler with more whizz bang so I’ll use it anyway.” But I didn’t and duly sweet talked the guy in the store to take it back and refund me.
Moral of the story is, phones aren’t that important to me
@Zeb Agreed. And, good story.
I’m intrigued by the people who have replaced the iPhone lens to get startling results, e.g. for Macro photography, etc.
My new quandary will be when the new iPhone comes out; I may have to purchase it full price (shudder) because I’m already on an agreement with my existing iPhone. We’ll see.
@height8
LOL thats a problem everyone who is into gadgets must face… eventually, sooner than we’d like, there will always be a nicer upgrade to the product we’ve got. Why do you think it’s taken me so long to decide on which camera to buy! I know that in 6 months the one I buy now will be obsolete, if not sooner. Which is why I am being so fussy about the features it comes with and how long it will last me in terms of it’s expandability and suitability of my style of photography!
