As some of you may know, I have recently taken a keen interest in photography. Some of the best and friendliest advice I have received, has been from the amazing people at the New Zealand Flickr Meetup group. A group of photographers in the wider-Auckland area who get together and share events that may present photographic oppurtunities to members.
They launched their first exhibition today and I am very very glad I attended.
The photos were stunning, beautiful and surreal. Stuff I had admired in peoples’ Flickr albums, and new photos that just blew me away. I couldn’t name a favourite, there were just so many!
I had a great time tonight, and enjoyed putting names to faces to some of the folk who have helped me online
NZFM is a group that was born out of people’s passion for the art, work and technicalities of photography. We are a diverse range of photographers whose coming together is founded on this passion.
Primarily a group focused on the sharing of ideas, ideals and imagery, NZFM represents the explosive growth of photography through the modern medium of the internet and social networking groups. It is open to anyone who resides in New Zealand and whilst most of the activities take place in Auckland we have members throughout this wonderful country we call home.
We are not solely focused on the technicalities but rather the enjoyment of taking photos, and satisfying the passion by sharing with others. It is this that brings us together to share our passion as photographers.
This, our inaugural exhibition, will demonstrate to the wider community our combined passion for the art of photography.
Where: Kinder House, Ayr Street Parnell
When: Saturday 30th May to Friday 12th June 2009
Time: 11AM to 3PM

I really hope you enjoy it as much as I did, if you can get a chance to see it
