Some of you may remember my mentioning that I was taking part in the 2009 Rotation Stitchers board cross stitch Fantasy Exchange, where the idea was that we stitched a fantasy themed design, finished it up in some way, and sent it to our exchange, all of it a surprise.
I received mine, and you won’t believe how happy I am about it!
The lovely lovely Heather ended up with me as her exchange, and she stitched this gorgeous wee dragon, and did it up as a pin keep.
The design is a freebie by Teresa Wentzler called ‘Tempest in a Teacup’ and is so appropriate for me as I love tea!
From Teresa’s page about this design:
“Tempest makes his home in a personalized, flowered china teacup, which, as we all know is not a terribly dignified place for a dragon. Tempest has a bit of a problem being taken seriously, and can only manage steam as opposed to flame…no wonder he’s frustrated!
He was designed as a reminder to me that making a big fuss over little things is just plain silly.”

Heather also included some neat gifts with the exchange:

The pinkeep is currently resting against one of the speakers on my computer table, I will eventually purchase a mini easel for it, so it can sit prominantly in my room and remind me to relax, and not let life’s problems get the better of me.
p.s. currently worried because Heather’s finishing technique was so professional, I really feel bad for dissapointing the recipient of my exchange with my not-so-stellar skills. *sigh*
oh wow that is so cool. I’m sure the person who gets yours will be very happy with it
How is the EDIT FOR SAFETY going that you were doing? Haven’t seen any updates lately. Was that the exchange?
I sent you a message yesterday I think it was. Haven’t heard back. I hope everything is ok.
@Mysti
Hey Mysti, thanks for the message, haven’t really been on lj or anywhere to be honest, but as you can see, trying to get back onto the forum now
btw I also edited your comment… I don’t think my recipient has received it yet, and I don’t want to give her a hint of what she’s getting, it’s a surprise so I hope you don’t mind?
It’s stitched, finished and sent. I have photos ready n waiting to update when she confirms she has received it… and yes, I really do hope she likes it… but it’s no where as near professionally finished as this pinkeep, and there is one HUGE mistake I made that I couldn’t get rid of. *sighs*
Hi Zeb, what a wonderful stitch design! And you’re right about it being perfect for your tea-drinking ways.
BTW, I spotted a recommendation for a cross-stitch site that I wasn’t sure if you knew about: http://myauntsattic.web-log.nl/
Hope you’re doing well, sorry about being out of contact for so long, but my latest “hobby” is very time-consuming.
I’m so glad you liked everything. Those Rockets are my favourite candy, even though they are super sweet. I so rarely eat them, but I do love them.
And thank you for saying that the finishing is well done. I think that is the second piece I finished that way. I’m glad it didn’t get too squished on its journey to you.
That pin keep is absolutely gorgeous! Heather did a great job. Lucky you
)
@Zeb
You were also worried about mine lol and I love it. Lives on my scissors and I’ve never lost them down the couch since
oops sorry Zeb, didn’t realise. By all means edit what you need. I know I was really excited to get your gift and know what it would be like to even get a hint. More exciting to not know. I’ll look forward to the updates on that
@Jaelle (Jessica)
Hey Jessica! So glad to see you! And yeah, I bet the current, uh, hobby, is a bit of a nightmare
But so worth it too!
And please don’t apologise about being out of contact, because it does take two after all, and I haven’t been all that good about it either. ~_~
I HEART My Aunt’s Attic! So many pretties!
@Silverlotus
I didn’t find them super sweet actually, they were just right… and believe me I know super sweet!
Thankyou so much again and again Heather, it truly is perfect for me.
And for someone whose only done it twice, I AM VERY impressed!
p.s. me mums been trying to get me to give her the pinkeep so she can display it on her mantelpiece, I’ve told her NO.
@Tammy
I do feel lucky cause I really do like the design as well and intended to stitch it for myself at some stage too, now I don’t have to!
btw I am really sorry about the mess I read on your blog, that can’t have been pleasant to deal with.
@Mysti
Yes but you’re a sweetheart anyway so wouldn’t tell me otherwise
And I like surprising people, just hope the two surprises I have planned actually eventuate, waiting on people can be a pain!
Wow, that’s gorgeous! I’m positive your recipient will be just as thrilled.
@Jennie
Heheh I dunno about thrilled, but hopefully she’ll still like it
Oh wow I love the pin keep!…and I LOVE those Smartie candies…those are the bomb…What a lucky lucky girl you are
