Radio New Zealand Podcast on Anime & Manga

A friend emailed me the link to the recent podcast about anime & manga in New Zealand, done by Radio New Zealand. It was an interesting listen and featured quite a few people I know, namely Dylan Horrocks, Seong from the GNC and Alex, a very well known cel collector!

Stuff like this I like to share and track, because we very rarely get media attention on anime & manga here in NZ.

    Must admit I’m incredibly excited for DO 09! :) Thanks for sharing the podcast – was most interesting.

    I was listening to that last night. It was some quite intelligent high quality coverage compared to the usual media attention as well. Some of the pronunciation was painful, but we can’t have everything. ;) Quite surprised to hear Alex and I had to laugh at his “it’s all about gay boy love!” comment.

    @Jen
    Glad you enjoyed, and looking forward to see you at DO!

    @MattB
    *lol* yeah but are you in the least bit surprised? I am glad to see he is still into anime though, for a while I thought he was giving up. Will you be making it up for DO this year?

    p.s. ILUVU for having a gravatar :*

  4. MattB says:

    @Zeb It certainly would be a shame if he was giving it up. Glen was supposedly hassling him about that comment. He said Alex had no idea that the broadcast had taken place.

    I’m sure one of these days I’ll make it to DO, but it always seems to be scheduled on a day I’m not free. One of my nephews is going to hospital for an operation around then and it looks like my presence here will be required. If I end up free on the day though I’ll head on up. A trip to Auckland is much less painful with my new car.

    Oh, and gravatars are awesome. So many places are using them now. I’ve been trying to get a pavatar to work too, but they seem a little unreliable.

    Everybody stop saying ‘Kawaii’ please -_____-

    @MattB
    Ah family does indeed come first, but it would rock if you could make it up as I would love to know what you of all people thought of it :)

    @Kody
    Yes it did get a bit much, and forced too. Oh well, better than nothing I say!

    Interesting podcast. Very simplified, but I guess you have to do that when catering to the public, though I felt a few of the things mentioned did give a bit a strangely skewed view.
    Also, pronunciation so bad it made my ears bleed ^_^
