Stitch Wars

Stitch Wars

A long stitch ago in a Gallery not so far, far away, an alliance of crafty rebel artists was formed to honor the epic fantasy world of Star Wars. Wielding mighty tools of knitting and crochet, cutting through the great expanse of felt, these daring individuals used their handmade patterns of survival to restore freedom to the galaxy. Beginning July 18th, their Jedi mind tricks will bedazzle you and sway your thoughts to the Dark side of the Art World. May their farce be with you.

Stitch Wars is group art exhibition featuring amazing handmade goods inspired by the most fabulous space fantasy ever made, ‘Star Wars.’ The physical exhibition in the US is probably one which most of us won’t be able to attend, but we can still enjoy online. :D
Hosted by Taste Comics, if you are in the area, you can visit the physical exhibition at the Bear and Bird Gallery above Tate’s Comics in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

The exhibition runs from July 18th to August 29th, and features a variety of crafting, celebrating Star Wars.
Check the Stitch Wars site out, and remember to visit on the 18th for the online gallery launch!

That picture amuses me terribly. Specifically Darth Vader sitting at the sewing machine working hard on his next great creation. I’m not the biggest fan of the Star Wars franchise these days, but I can imagine that being a really interesting and creative exhibition. If I was in the neighborhood I’d definitely take a look.

Heh the Star Wars franchise lost me as a fan long ago, mainly due to the newer movies… but when I saw this, I have to admit the old fan in me went “squee!” Not because it’s specifically Star Wars themed, but because it’s CRAFTING Star Wars! And yeah, that image of Darth-baby doing his thing with the machine… ooohh yeah ;)
You should be able to view the exhibition online from the 18th :)

Still a fan even after the new movies, so much goodness when I was a child that nothing could ever take away.

This event gets a thumbs up from me!
