Just a few things I wanted to write about; designs and kits that have recently been released that have me salivating. ![]()
Being jobless means that I have to also be quite frugal in terms of the things I purchase; but let it not be said that I am denying myself completely!
You’ll need to click the thumbnails to see larger versions.
First off, these gorgeous little witches from Brooke’s Books. Aren’t they the cutest?
There is something so adorable about these designs, and also the SpiritAngel series (check the site to see em.) The fact that they’re stitched on perforated paper makes them also infinitely useable as quickly created ornaments.
I only recently discovered this designer, and she doesn’t seem to have that many designs out; but I am really looking forward to seeing what she comes up with next!
Next up is a new design by Sue Hillis called ‘Pirate Queen.’ Anyone who knows me, knows that it is a perfect design for my temperamental nature!
Although I do think this was made for the lovely Lori over at Stitchin Times Five, who most definitely is my favourite Pirate Wench! *snugs*
Of the two I have already ordered the Witch Sisters; I can wait on the Pirate Queen. As much as I love it, I do need to pace myself… but oh boy, watch out when I get a job!
I also wanted to say thankyou to two special people who have recently helped me out.
To Heidi aka heidinugget on the Yuku boards, a very sweet and lovely lady who recently sent me two halloween themed charts that I had been looking for. Both charts were out of print and impossible to find, but not only did she have them, she gifted them to me. THANKYOU!

1999 Christmas Treasure Box by Just Nan
The second lady has asked to be kept anonymous, but she knows who she is. ![]()
This amazing lady gifted to me a Just Nan kit that is next to impossible to find these days; and when it does pop up on eBay, goes for quite a bit. She sent me the limited edition ’1999 Christmas Treasure Box’ kit, which included the box itself, all the threads, embellishments and instructions/graph, all I have to do is just add fabric.
To say that I am humbled and extremely grateful to both these lovely ladies is putting it lightly. Words cannot properly say just how much I appreciate what they have done for me.
Thankyou, thankyou, THANKYOU. May good karma come your way many times over; and I hope I can return the favour some day
p.s. Selina, I do believe Sue Hillis’ ‘Ooh La La‘ was designed for you!

Oh I like the pirate queen, can’t see it on that link though:( Is the site American based?
The generosity of stitchers is unbelievable, it’s just so awesome:D
@Mysti
If you click the thumbnail for the Pirate Queen image it’ll load a larger version of it. For some reason Sue hasn’t put it on her site yet; but it is on her blog
Yup American based!
And yes it is, I just hope I can send out as much good karma as I get.
@Zeb
oh right thanks, hmmm I’ll hold off for now.
@Mysti
You should be able to order it through most cross stitch stores though; I believe Hoffmandis (the main distributor of stitching designs around the world, and here in NZ) stocks her stuff; so if the needlework store in your area orders through Hoffmandis they can get it. OR some of the lovely ladies on TM can order it too
It won’t be terribly expensive either.
@Zeb
I wouldn’t have a clue where my local orders from. I was looking at the $6US thinking ouch, so much for a little pattern.
@Mysti
Heheh don’t forget it also includes the gold rose charm
Such is the fun of our wee obsessions! Keep an eye on sales; and sometimes I see the odd Sue Hillis appear on TM, so this might end up there too.
Hunny you know me so well! Ooh La La is purty!!!!
The witches are cute too
@Zeb
Didn’t know it had a charm. I just want the chart, don’t do charms. I just leave them out.
I am in love with Brooke’s Books designs. Have you seen her Needleworkers ABC freebies on the site? I’m waiting for my acceptance to the yahoo message board for her designs, to gather some more freebies and keep up to date.
Her work on the perforated paper makes me remember the very first designs I ever did…those Whimsies or whatever they were called….I just remember doing one with a fish and it had straw bows and metal wiring connecting it…
Hopefully my Gravatar shows up, as I HAVE subscribed to one…but for some reason it doesn’t like to show up
@Cytrix
Okay…maybe now it’ll be fixed?
@Selina
Hehehe if I ever get that design I am sssooo stitching it for you!
And yup! stitchy fashionable witchies!
@Mysti
Awww but the charm adds to the whole charm (pardon the pun!) of the design!
@Cytrix
It worked! Your gravatar worked! RAWR SHARKY!
I have it set that only gravatars that are PG rated will show, so if yours wasn’t at one point, thats probably why.
Yes I saw the ABC freebies and think they are just yummy cute, and so infinitely useful in a myriad of ways! Waiting to be approved into the Yahoo! group too! What do you think of the SpiritAngels? There are some I’d pass on, but the following are ones I REALLY want!
Christmas Stitching
Holiday Baking
Sugar Plum Fairy
The Bride (I wanna get married just so I can have an excuse to stitch this!)
Snow Angel
Cross Stitch Angel
Joy Angel
Yes, I am nuts XD
I was actually introduced to Brooke’s Books by a lovely lady called Emily, who had some of the angels stitched up and displayed so beautifully… this is the link to it!

And look at her Spooky Critters tree!

She’s also got The Bride stitched up in her gallery
I remember those whimsies, and talk about nostalgia! But imagine how neat these would be hanging up as ornaments!?
Haha Zeb! I’m waiting very patiently for my ‘mascot’ picture to show up so I can snatch it up!…and you KNOW I will!
@Zeb
yayyyy sharky showed up. I changed it down to a G rating and then it finally showed (it was a PG before) Glad to know I’m not the only one waiting for my ‘yay you’re accepted’ email! Talk about a wait hahah.
Oh and p.s. in reply to your twitter message about roasted pumpkin…next time you do that squish it about with a fork, then mix it through some cooked pasta and some crumbled feta, add a splodge of oil (or basil pesto) and enjoy! Gorgeous hot or cold
does mine show? cause I went and checked and it’s G rated. I can’t see Cytrix’s one.
@Cytrix & @Mysti
Whoops! Sorry my bad, I have the blog set to G XD
Cytrix I think part of the wait is that its holidays right now in the USA, so the mods are probably gonna come back to a massive pile of sign ups! Also got a lovely email from Brooke, talk about nice lady! My witches will be coming soon!
Ooohh that does sound nice, but probably not something I will try til I get a job. I am only buying essentials food-wise, no extra treats!
@Lori
Looking forward to seeing it stitched up! Then you’ll need to use it as a gravatar
