A while ago I would have mentioned that I was taking part in a Fantasy Cross Stitch Exchange organised for members of the Rotation Stitchers forum.
I mailed my exchange off on the 20th of July, and as yet still have not received word from the recipient that she has indeed received. This is frustrating because it would be nice to know that all the hard work and effort I put into it hasn’t been lost! I’ve decided to go ahead and share it anyway…
I chose to stitch the design ‘You Were Hatched…’ by Teresa Wentzler.
The design is a wee little mother dragon and baby dragon, click the image on the above link to see a larger version.
Just a little background history.
A long long time ago when I first saw this chart for sale I ummed and aaahed about getting it. Deciding not to, it was only a few months later that I saw it again and truly fell in love with the design, and found to my horror it was a limited edition design that was released at the 2005 Fantasy Faire in Nashville.
There were only 1000 numbered and signed charts released.
I scoured the internet high and low and was luckily able to get a copy through ABC Stitch Therapy. It has since sat in my stash waiting for it’s time to shine… and I am glad I did get it, because Teresa has confirmed that because it is an exclusive, it will never be re-sold anywhere; the 1000 charts are it.
The work in progress photos were fun to take, and I thought I’d share them so you could see the design “come to life.”

I ended up finishing it off as a needlecase; and this design was a first for me in many ways…
- first time taking part in an exchange
- first time stitching a Teresa Wentzler deisgn
- first time making a needlecase
- first time doing blanket stitch
I am MOSTLY happy with how it turned out, there is one glaring issue that I just couldn’t fix, and didn’t have time to re-stitch and re-do it all, so I hope my exchange can forgive me for it.

You Were Hatched Finished

Done up as a needlecase

I included some extras; the card contains a paua shell pendant.
July dearing, July, not August. But wow still no word. I hope she got it.
*head desk* of course July XD
Did you know I was a blond in a previous life? LOL changed and thanks
And yeah, still no word. There are some comments from other members in the exchange who are still waiting to RECEIVE their’s, which makes me worried that the lady I did mine for didn’t do HERS either.
lol a blonde aye;) Oh dear thats not good:(
Wow, that is great. I’d give my left arm for Your Were Hatched. I so want to stitch it to put in my son’s bedroom. How nice of you to stitch an exclusive for an exchange. I really hope it shows up soon. (My package hasn’t arrived either. This is the first exchange I’ve taken part in that has had any packages late/missing like this.)
I am surprised that it is happening, because you’d think that by now people would know not to renege on stuff like this. I am kinda wishing mine went to you; atleast I know we’d both be happy!
And yes, I wanted to stitch it for her because I knew she was a recent TW convert, and probably wouldn’t have this design in her stash.
Love the colors. TW designs are awesome
) Great stitching job!
Thankyou Tammy! I really did enjoy this and feel emboldened to stitch a few more of her designs… preferrably the freebie small dragons. XD
purrrdy
what is the glaring issue? it looks perfect to me!
Look at the top left of the needlecase
Very lovely. I don’t think I’ve ever seen this one stitched before.
And what is the glaring error? Can’t say I see anything…
Thankyou!
Top left of the needlecase, there is a glue stain
Gorgeous – absolutely gorgeous. And totally not seeing the glue stain! I’m looking and looking but it’s not there.
Cool.
Zeb that turned out just beautiful. I love that chart, just love it. I must be blind ‘cuz I don’t see a glue stain…
It’s very lovely. All of your exchange gifts. I don’t see the glue stain either.
