Things I Love: Gingerbread, Heards & Just Nan

In an effort to keep positive about my current situation, I have decided to post atleast once a week, the things that make me happy.
Hopefully you’ll discover new and tasty things, or just roll your eyes and grin at my silliness!

Gretel’s Gingerbread – I discovered this company a few months ago while attending a local craft fair. I’ve always loved the taste of gingerbread, but hated how most of it was usually jaw breakingly hard. Not this gingerbread! Soft, moist & ever so delicious. Not overly sweet & with just the right combination of spices to make this gingerbread so more-ish. At that point I had been struggling to keep food down, but the gingerbread did wonders to settle my tum.
Marianne, the owner, is an absolute sweetheart and does do custom orders including cakes & gingerbread houses; the corporate gift & gluten free options are pretty cool too. They take online orders so I totally recommend checking them out!

Heard’s Glucose Barley Sugar – the weirdest thing to love, and this may just make you smile at my silliness. These are wee little individually wrapped bundles of concentrated energy. Since losing my job I’ve had a few health problems, including low blood sugar. During my power walks I noticed that half way through, I just crashed… during one walk I got so dizzy and faint I had to literally sit on the road side with my head between my legs, trying to get my vision back and breathe normally again. Then I discovered the barley sugar, and vroom! vroom! vroom! I still have those crashes (when I haven’t eaten properly or drunk enough water) but sucking on one of these at the beginning of my walks means the chances are much reduced.

Just Nan – ok so anyone who has read my blog at all, knows just how obsessed I am with the cross stitch designer Nan Caldera aka Just Nan.
It’s no secret, I won’t lie! Every time she releases a new design I am just salivating with want. Most recent ones are:

• Williamsburg Stitcher’s Case

I really really want Spooky, but alas, the $$$ problem means that I am going to have to hunt through eBay once I get a job. That particular kit is already sold out at most cross stitch shops! I’ve found several that still stock it, but their stock numbers are limited… ditto with Noella.
Ah the joys of being an addict of pretty things.

Hrrmm… now I have a craving for gingerbread!
