Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year!

My family has never celebrated Christmas, which has meant some very lonely and quiet Christmases for me.
Not that I should feel that way, because technically it’s a Christian holiday, but how many people really remember the true reason for Christmas?
I usually feel a little left out of all the fun.

This year I decided I didn’t want to spend Christmas Day alone. So two friends and I had a picnic at a local park. We ate and ate, talked and laughed, played on swings and chased one of the girl’s dog around. I am sitting here feeling so warm, relaxed and tierd. Seriously considering curling up and having a nap.
Going to sip my afternoon cuppa then go read a bit. Not bothering with dinner, still so full from lunch!

I hope everyone reading this has a fantastic Christmas. I know 2009 has not been a great year for many of us, but heres hoping it starts improving in 2010.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

p.s. the thumbnail image for this post is a flower from a native tree called the Pohutakawa. It is Summer here in New Zealand, but this tree’s beautiful flowers and festive nature has made it the quintissential Kiwi Christmas Tree!

Don’t have to be Christian to celebrate christmas. It’s origins lie in pre-christian Europe anyway.

The point for the modern day is actually not to be lonely (although some poor don’t have much choice there) :(

Glad you had a good time! That’s the point.

I’m glad that you didn’t spend it alone. Part of Christmas is being with those you care about, may it be family and friends, and in just sharing one anothers company.:)Here is wishing you the best of the New Year :)

Glad to hear you had a lovely Christmas – I’m not Christian either, but I love the traditions of a family Christmas and that’s what we focus on … more being with people you care about. Hope 2010 is a wondrous year for you :)
