Things I Love: Psychology and Hoopnotica

New year and many new things in my life! I shall of course only discuss the good things, which today is Psychology and Hoopnotica.

Psychology & TechnologyPsychology – Most of us have no clue what we want to do job-wise when we leave school. I coasted through two years at uni, before going into a career in IT.
To say I “chose” it, isn’t correct. I fell into it, was good at it, so stuck with it. Teaching myself and progressing up the ladder.
Does it make me happy though? Not anymore.

Its only been in the last year, when I’ve had time to seriously self-reflect and think about who I am, where I’ve come from, what I enjoy and what makes me happy… that I realised I needed another avenue. Something that would help me enhance the skills I had and make me feel self-fulfilled.

An ex once said “I keep the internet going so people can get their prOn.”
I don’t want to support an end goal anymore, I want to create the goals.

I’ve always been interested in people. What makes them tick, what makes them think and do the things they do. Psychology was a natural choice.
By understanding how humans interact with technology, social media and gadgets, I want to know how I can use technology to enhance messages and create new avenues.
I’m studying psychology extramurally, doing two papers this year to see how I cope with working full time and studying part time. I’m very excited and already reading the prescribed textbooks, so I know I’ll enjoy it.

Hoopnotica – Hula hooping is something many of us remember from our childhood, but its come back as a modern dance form thats both fun and great for building fitness. When I saw videos of the Hoopnotica girls hoopdancing, I was hooked. All I need is a hoop!

Unfortunately child hula hoops just won’t cut it, and New Zealand doesn’t seem to have much of a hooping community. So I wait, patiently, for my TravelHoop to arrive from Hoopnotica.
Which, according to the tracking site I was given, should be Monday or Tuesday! *squeal!*

In the mean time, be entranced by Rayna’s hawt moves!

Sexualised hulahooping. Who would have thought?

Well done on the study too. Psychology is a fascinating area, an important one to in an age where technological progress isn’t necessarily congruent with people’s needs.
