Guess what I did today? I created something all by myself *beams*
I’ve always admired designers who are able to create beautiful one of a kind cross stitch patterns, so when I decided to sign up to a band sampler stitch along on a forum I’d recently joined, I thought I’d give it a go. The other ladies & gents in the group had already started sharing their own designs, and wanting to contribute, I came up with the following, which I boringly call the ‘Floral Band.’
My influences were definitely Indian/Pakistany in origin. I wanted to create something that reflected my own cultural heritage, but using the stitching materials and techniques most people were used to.
Click the image to view the larger, printable/downloadable pattern. I’ll be using this to start my own band sampler off (my head piece.) Still not decided on whether I’ll stitch the flowers and leaves in appropriate colours, or use a variegated thread throughout. Beads will be appropriately suiting to the colour-scheme and blingy, it’s going to be exciting to see it come to life!
Hope people like it!

Wow, that’s awesome! Nice job.
Thankyou! It’s a bit scary sharing stuff like this cause you don’t know if people will like it. But right now I’m going to be designing for myself, and I know I like it so thats all that matters ^__^
Well done! I have done some designs with biscornus – “stitch as you go” so to speak
I sent you an e-mail a while ago, about the Amethyst Snowflake by Just Nan. I wonder if you got it?
Hello!
I think I may have, but I’ve been fairly slack with regards to that because I’ve been of two minds on whether I want to simply sell, or just swap for charts I want on my wishlist. I’ve decided to go for the swap scenario for now, check out my wishlist here: http://www.geekchixxx.com/cross-stitch/wishlist/
Ok. I sent you a note through Contact me!
I like it. I can see using it. Though I will probably use french knots instead of beads.
Heheh thankyou
I think with this it’s totally up to you how you want to stitch it. One person has already mentioned she’d probably stitch it as a bookmark without the centre piece; personally for the band sampler I think I might just stitch it with the central three mandalas and the head piece (cause I’m lazy and don’t want a HUGE band sampler!)
Nice job! I hate the word “blingy” though. >.<
