When biscornus first came into the scene, I kinda thought “Eh, cute but not for me.”
Part of the problem was that there weren’t many designs available, and I wasn’t too excited by the ones that were. Over the years they’ve really grown in popularity, and they grew on me. So much so, I did try making one, and failed, miserably.
When I came across the Cross Stitch forum and saw that they were taking sign ups for a Halloween biscornu exchange, I decided I had to give it another go. I love halloween, and the thought of a biscornu in a halloween theme had me tickled pink! Of course, since I’d never actually done a biscornu, I decided to first get one under my belt before attempting one for someone else.
And this is the result…

Love Biscornu, front

Love Biscornu, back
This is a freebie design called Love by Debbie Draper Designs. It was stiched in a limited edition DMC colour which variegated subtly through the reds and finished with Mill Hill gold petite beads. My friend Laura stepped me through actually finishing it as a biscornu, and I learned quite a few things from her as far as why my first attempt failed.
Probably should have stuffed it a little more, and the sides are a little uneven, but all in all I am very very pleased with this. The cross stitching for the Halloween biscornu is done, and all I need to do now is finish it as a biscornu. I am feeling very confident about that.
Congrats! It’s adorable. I love the gold beads you’ve added! Goes great with the red.
Thankyou! I felt that it needed something extra, so instead of stitching the red cross stitches I decided to replace with those beads.
Just measured the biscornu, it’s 6.5cm long!
Pretty! Nice design and I like the gold beads, too.
It’s lovely. I fill my biscornu’s with rice and lavender, makes it easier to move the filling in the corners when it’s closed.
Love, Babs
